To Market, To Market

Whenever I travel I love to visit food markets.  They're so wonderfully alive, bustling, busy and chock-a-block with people going about their every day lives.  It's also a great way to discover unique local foods.  Here in Singapore I try to visit our local food market for my fruit and vege shopping - it's so much cheaper than the supermarkets.

29 Daily February Photos - Challenge Complete

Wow, the daily photo challenge really was amazing.  I fell off the wagon a few times (tiredness = forgetfulness, no access to internet on international long haul), but in general I think I've been pretty diligent.

This monthly challenge has encouraged me to drag my nose out of my iPhone and spend more time looking at the world around me - on the bus, during my lunch break, running errands on the weekend, and of course, some amazing snaps while on holiday.

I think I'm going to try to keep it up.  Although given my 'variety is the spice of life' motto from the personality test I did yesterday (click here to do it yourself), perhaps I should just take the challenges one month at a time.

March's challenge is to be sugar free - that is going to be torturous given my love of the mid-afternoon and/or (quite often 'and') post-dinner sweet treat.  I'll need to find a way to out-wit myself - any suggestions?

Living in a tropical climate, you'd think that I'd spend all my spare time in the pool, especially when it looks this good.  For some reason I don't - in fact I can barely remember the last time I swam in it...  Lounging by the pool just doesn't really appeal when you're coated in sweat after about five minutes.  Charming.

Ordinarily, I love airports - so many exciting possibilities for adventures!  The reunions also get me a bit choked up, like the opening scene from Love Actually.  Yesterday's airport experience was bitter-sweet as it heralded the end of a fantastic New Zealand holiday and a return to reality.

Best of: New Zealand in 9 days - incredible wedding in Hawkes Bay and Bay of Islands kicking off the 'buddy moon' with the bride and groom.

Bay of Islands... firmly in the running for the most beautiful place in New Zealand.  That's saying something.
